Bisuali Estate



Bisuali was founded by Rohilla chiefs Nawab Dude khan ,who died in 1771 and then it was overtook by Muslim rulers. The estate of Bisauli was established in 1857 after the infamous mutiny of Bisauli by Baba Amar Singh emerging to be one of the most wealthy and illustrious kayastha riyasats in the country. Tucked away in the quaint countryside of north-western Uttar Pradesh resides the estate of Bisauli in Budaun district of the Rohilkhand region, untainted by the modern era. Its original name was ‘Banswari’ or Bansauri which came from the lush bamboo growth in the region, making it custodian to the artform of weaving and paper making. Mostly agrarian, Bisauli is the leading contributor of wheat, potato and peppermint oil amongst all 5 tehsils of budaun. Teeming with orchards of litchi, guava, jamun, mango trees also make it one of the top fruit suppliers of the region. Apart from this, it boasts the traditional finesse in arts, music, architecture etc. In the heart of Bisauli exist artisans who through generations carry the skill set of a very indigenous style of pottery famous across Uttar Pradesh, and pass it on to posterity. Also renowned for its silver coins, erstwhile Bisauli used to be the hub of mints; coins with intricate carvings dating back to as early as Shah Alam II can be found in Bisauli. Further the town boasts of a Mud fort believed to be from the times of Mahabharata, when the region was called Panchal. Ancient temples and idgahas are specked across the lay of Bisauli stand witness to its cultural diversity throughout history. The heavy influence of the Rampur-Sahaswan gharana on the region has shaped the musical heritage of the town. The present head of the estate is Rai Saheb Jagdish Saran of Bisauli, a scientist of national acclaim who has done invaluable research work in the field of botany, resides in Budaun in their quaint home with his son Rai Kumar Shri Rakshit Raj Saran, daughter in law Yuvarani Dr. Seema Saran and two grand daughters. The family runs schools and offers various scholarships to the needy, encouraging education throughout rural Bisauli. His Daughter in Law, Yuvrani Dr. Seema Saran has lead health camps in all 310 villages of Bisauli and continues to bring quality healthcare to even the remotest parts of the tehsil.
